Shaken baby syndrome is a cluster of symptoms indicating damage to the brain and its blood vessels. The syndrome occurs in children with progressive-oscillatory movements that occur during shaking of the child.
Shaking, hard rocking and tossing upwards can lead to bruises or brain bruises because of the anatomy of children under 1.5 years of age
Symptoms may vary depending on the severity of the injury. The most common are vomiting, regurgitation, and unusual restlessness in the child. It is more dangerous if there was a respiratory disturbance, when the child becomes pale, and unconsciousness is possible. In any case, you should always consult a doctor. Signs of shaken baby syndrome may occur immediately after injury, although there is no external damage, the skull is intact.
The consequences of this syndrome can be very dangerous - epilepsy, movement problems and death.
