Chair method - how long am I supposed to sit here??

Night 4 of the chair/camping-out method with my 10 month old. I'm sitting beside the cot until she falls asleep, planning to move the chair further away every few nights.
Tonight it took 50 minutes and she keeps standing up and reaching for me. Am I doing it wrong or is this just how slow it is? My back is destroyed.

50 minutes on night 4 is completely normal, hang in there. The standing-up phase is the worst part. We didn't react to it, just calmly laid her back down without talking, over and over. By night 7 she stopped bothering to stand.

Don't move the chair until she's having genuinely easy nights at the current distance. We rushed it and had to restart. Slow is fast with this one.

Bring a cushion for your back, you'll be there a while, ha. But seriously it does click. Ours went from 45 mins to 10 mins around the two week mark and then we were out of the room entirely.

Quick question, is she napping okay in the day? Our camping-out only started working once we'd also sorted the overtiredness. A too-late bedtime made the cot battles twice as long.

We did exactly this at 11 months. The reaching and crying for you feels awful but staying boring and consistent is what teaches them. You're not doing it wrong, you're doing the slow version on purpose.
