Dropping the dream feed - did your baby sleep worse or better?

My 7 month old still gets a dream feed around 10:30pm and I'm wondering if it's actually helping or just creating an extra waking I'm causing myself.

For those who dropped it, did your baby start sleeping longer or did it backfire? Trying to decide if I rip the bandaid off this weekend.

We dropped ours at 7 months and it was the best decision. He consolidated into one long stretch within about 4 nights. The dream feed was honestly waking him more than the hunger would have.

This article from the blog really helped us: Sleeping clothes

Mine went the other way, dropping it meant a genuine hungry waking at 4am that was harder to deal with than the dream feed. Every baby is different. I'd try it for a week and judge by the 4-6am window.

We tapered rather than dropping cold turkey, reduced the amount over a week or two until it was barely anything, then cut it. Gentler on her tummy and on us. If you've got any feeding/weight concerns worth a quick word with your health visitor first.

Pick a weekend like you said so a rough night or two doesn't wreck your work week. We saw no change at first then suddenly night 5 he slept through. Give it more than two nights before deciding.
