Is my newborn sleeping TOO much? 5 weeks

Opposite problem to everyone else here it seems. My 5 week old sleeps a LOT, sometimes 4-5 hour stretches even in the day, and I almost have to wake her to feed. She's a really chill baby.
When do I stop waking her for feeds at night? Pediatrician said wake every 3-4 hours until she's back to birth weight but she passed that two weeks ago. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

If your ped already cleared her on weight gain, most guidance says you can let her sleep and feed on demand at night now. The 'wake to feed' rule is really about establishing supply and weight in the early days. Lucky you with a sleeper!

I'd still double check with your ped since you got the every-3-4-hours instruction directly from them, just confirm she's cleared to drop the night wakes. But assuming yes, enjoy it! Some babies are just efficient feeders and good sleepers early on.

Watch her diaper output and weight at the next check as your reassurance signs. As long as wet/dirty diapers are good and she's gaining, sleeping a lot at 5 weeks is just a personality. My second was like this and stayed a great sleeper.

Came to say don't borrow trouble! A content, gaining, well-hydrated chill baby is a gift. Keep doing your safe sleep, back, own flat cot, nothing in it, and enjoy the rest while it lasts because the 4 month regression comes for us all eventually ha.
