4 month old taking only 30 min catnaps

My daughter is exactly 4 months and every single nap is 30-35 minutes on the dot. She wakes up clearly still tired and cranky but won't go back down. Wake windows are about 1h45 and she goes down pretty easily, she just won't connect the next sleep cycle.
Is this the dreaded 4 month regression? Anything I can do to extend these or do I just ride it out?

Classic 4 month sleep cycle maturation. Around now their sleep becomes more 'adult' with lighter cycles, so the catnap is them waking fully between cycles instead of linking. The skill of linking cycles develops, often it just takes time and practice.

This article from the blog really helped us: White noise

Two things helped us: a slightly DARKER room (like blackout dark, can't-see-your-hand dark) and bumping the wake window a touch. 1h45 might be just slightly short for her now, we found 2h gave deeper sleep. Try nudging by 15 min.

The 'crib hour' approach worked for us, leaving her to have quiet awake time (not screaming) for up to an hour to give her the chance to resettle. Sometimes she'd link a cycle on her own after 10-15 min of grumbling. Not for everyone but worth a try.

Honestly some 4 month olds are just catnappers and there's no magic fix, you manage with short wake windows and more frequent naps. Mine extended naturally around 5.5 months when she could connect cycles. Hang in there, it's a phase.

Update from us when we were here: a consistent nap routine (same little wind-down every time) plus a dark room eventually clicked around 5 months and naps jumped to 60-75 min. The 30 min thing felt endless but it did resolve. You're not doing anything wrong.
